PE and Sport Premium Statement

Our school receives the PE and Sport Premium, which is government funding provided to all eligible primary schools to improve the quality and range of physical education, sport and physical activity for all pupils. The purpose of this funding is to help schools make additional and sustainable improvements to their PE and sport provision, ensuring that all children can lead healthy, active lives.

We use the PE and Sport Premium to:

  • Support all children to live healthy, active lifestyles.
  • Make participation in PE, school sport and physical activity easier and more accessible for every pupil.
  • Widen the range of sports activities available at Alexandra Junior school
  • Ensure all children can achieve and thrive, regardless of background or ability, through increased physical activity and sport.
  • Improve pupils’ health, wellbeing, personal development and academic attainment.
  • Embed positive habits by supporting regular, enjoyable participation in physical activity.

The Chief Medical Officers recommend that children should take part in at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day, with 20 minutes recommended for disabled children and young people.

In line with government expectations, we aim to provide:

  • A minimum of 2 hours of high‑quality PE and sport each week.
  • A wide range of extracurricular sports clubs and competitive opportunities.

The PE and Sport Premium must not be used to fund activities that are part of the school’s core curriculum.

Each year, we publish details of:

  • The amount of funding we receive.
  • How we spend the funding.
  • The impact of these improvements on pupils’ PE, sport participation, and physical development.

This ensures we remain fully accountable for how the PE and Sport Premium is used in our school.
